[Origin – Stability]In October 2023, the Origin system was introduced featuring the first Origin, Struggle, to get an upper hand in the PVE situations. While some CEOs initially navigated through a bit of uncertainty with the Origin system, we are sure that familiarity has settled among our CEOs.Expanding the Origin system, we are announcing the addition of a new Origin, Stability, on February 28th, enhancing the versatility of employees for optimal use in PVE conditions.The Stability operates in the same manner as the existing Struggle. When a monster in PVE is endowed with Stability, employees possessing Stability will incur less damage from that monster while dealing out more significant damage.Adding an intriguing layer, if a monster has both Struggle and Stability, employees with either Origin will dynamically interact – inflicting more damage and receiving less. While designed to provide a sense of achievement as you progressed through each stage, we recognized that the repetitiveness of similar battles could lead to monotony rather than a sense of accomplishment.To address this, Swift, Jungle, and Volcano will be simplified from the existing 60/100 stages to 20 stages each. The difficulty will be scaled accordingly to align with the reduced number of stages.The total rewards for the initial clearances will remain the same as before the simplification, ensuring an equivalent amount of rewards. Additionally, the quantity of rewards obtained as you progress through the stages will be adjusted to make the increase in difficulty more perceptible.For CEOs who have not reached the current 60/100 floors, the clearance progress will be calculated and applied accordingly.Stage NameAdjustmentSwift: Trimming TrinityYour current stage * 1/3Jungle: Trimming WildYour current stage * 1/5Volcano: Trimming FlameYour current stage * 1/5As indicated in the table above, the progress you have cleared will be adjusted proportionally to the reduced stages. In this case, the adjustment will be implemented with a cleared stage of 10. Your progress will be reflected in whole numbers to maintain fairness and clarity in the calculation process. [ Effect Opacity Improvement ]In the dynamic battles of CounterSide, every employee engages in real-time attacks and skill maneuvers, unleashing a plethora of effects and combat dynamics. However, as more employees with dazzling skills and effects join the company, the visibility of the battlefield has diminished due to the overwhelming spectacle of these skills and effects.To address this, we are enhancing the current system that adjusts the transparency of all effects, introducing a feature to separately control the transparency of effects for ally and enemy units. This improvement will allow you to focus on displaying only the ally units, enhancing visibility amidst the flurry of effects.Your previously saved effect transparency values will be retained for the ally unit effects, while the default transparency for enemy unit effects will be set to 70 after the update. We strongly recommend adjusting the transparency of battle effects post-update to optimize your gaming experience.Next, on to the March update. [ New Substream – Creed of the Yaksa] In the land of Huatian, where the sun never sets, the two sects, Black East and White West, hold a deep-rooted tradition. This tradition dictates that the one who defeats the sect leader of Black East weds the defeated leader and becomes the next sect leader of White West. The formidable new leader of Black East, in search of a worthy companion, arrives at the Counter Academy, where a series of events unfolds, setting the stage for a captivating tale.[ Additional Gauntlet Ban Enhancement ]In the January patch, we strengthened the penalties for Gauntlet bans. Building upon this and considering the survey responses from CEOs who expressed that the ban count is low, the development team is contemplating additional adjustments related to Gauntlet bans. Here's what we're currently considering.Increasing the number of Gauntlet rotation bans.Increasing the number of casting bans and expanding the voting range.This upcoming patch is scheduled for March, and we will provide detailed information on the new changes through the patch notes. We value your opinions, so please feel free to share your thoughts through 1:1 inquiries and other channels regarding the changes. [ Alternium Reactor ]The next group that will receive Alternium Reactors in March has been selected, Ministra, Noelle Wright, and Serapel.Ministra’s Alternium Reactor will be upgraded to level 2. Unlike other Awakened employee Reactors, Ministra’s Alternium Reactor’s effectiveness is perceived as lower. As such, we aim to design her level 2 Reactor to synergize effectively with her level 1 effect.As for Noelle Wright, she is an employee who throws vajras in the middle and back rows of enemies to restrain them. In the upcoming update, Noelle's Alternium Reactor will strengthen the synergy between her Ultimate and Special Skills. The goal is to reinforce Noelle's individuality while elevating her abilities.For Serapel, using her Special Skill increases her defense and takes damage for surrounding allies. We are currently planning her Reactor that enhances the Special Skill in a way.More detailed information on the Reactors will be posted on the patch notes.[ Team Relay Event Improvement and Schedule ]The Team Relay event is scheduled for March 2024.The upcoming Team Relay event is set to address and improve upon the inconveniences from the previous version. Here are the key improvements:First, even if the team you support loses the race, you'll receive an 80% refund of the event currency used for support. This adjustment aims to alleviate the frustration of depleting all event currency when your supported team loses, making it easier to purchase items from the event shop.Second, during each settlement, if the winning team's reward multiplier falls below 1.5x, the minimum multiplier of 1.5x will be applied, ensuring that event currency is still granted. (Update - 2/2 08:40 UTC-5)--------------Dear CEOs, This is Kim Hyun Soo, the Head PD of CounterSide.Through today’s CounterSide Origin 1st Anniversary broadcast, I briefly introduced the upcoming updates along with my first greetings to our CEOs.I thank all the CEOs who have shown great expectations and support on the first greeting. Now, I will provide a brief overview and explanation of the upcoming update content that was introduced today in the broadcast.[ Dimension Trimming Rework ] Dimension Trimming will receive a rework where its content focuses on obtaining the most powerful equipment materials in CounterSide, the Relic equipment.The Dimension Trimming consists of 60 stages of [Swift: Trimming Trinity] and 100 stages of [Jungle: Trimming Wild] and [Volcano: Trimming Flame], with a gradual increase in difficulty. However, due to the sheer volume of each stage, the inconvenience of having to conduct and clear similar stages arose. Therefore, to address this inconvenience, the Swift, Jungle, and Volcano stages will be compacted into 20 stages each. (Update - 2/2 08:40 UTC-5)With the reduction in the number of stages from 60 to 20 and from 100 to 20, the difficulty of each stage will be also compressed and adjusted. The initial clear rewards will also be adjusted to ensure they are not lower than the pre-rework.Additionally, as a token of gratitude to CEOs who have cleared Swift 60 stages or Jungle/Volcano 100 stages before the rework, special titles with unique effects will be sent out.Please note that these special titles obtained after the rework will not come with special effects. Therefore, CEOs aspiring to obtain these special titles are encouraged to set their goal of clearing the final stage of each Trimming before the rework.To give some time for our CEOs to have a chance to clear stages 100 for Jungle and Volcano and 60 for Swift, the rework update will be done on Feb. 28, instead of Feb. 7, 2024. (Update - 2/2 08:40 UTC-5) [ Shadow Palaces ]The initial Shadow Palaces in CounterSide presented a difficulty level comparable to endgame PVE content. However, throughout the service period, the difficulty significantly decreased due to various strategies and the introduction of new employees with unique abilities. The Spectral equipment obtainable in the Shadow Palaces became a stepping stone before obtaining Maze equipment or T7 equipment.Despite being equipment used as a stepping stone before gearing up to higher level equipment, there was a lack of defensive gear for frontline employees. In response, the development team is introducing new equipment with defensive options alongside the existing Spectral gear. This will provide a foundation for acquiring defensive equipment from the Shadow Palaces before farming equipment for the end-game contents.The new set of Shadow Palaces equipment is named "Phantom,” consisting of a weapon, armor, and accessories. The set options for Phantom equipment are as follows.【 SSR Weapon 】 【 SSR Armor 】 【 SSR Accessories 】 Additionally, the acquisition method for [Quantum Coords Crystal] will change from purchasing with Quartz to Eternium. The automatic daily recharge will remain.With these changes to the entry method and the introduction of new Phantom equipment, we expect that CEOs who find it challenging to farm high-end equipment will transition more smoothly than before.[ Early Entry Barrier Reduction ]◆ Welcome! Buff ChangesThe "Welcome!" item is provided to all new CEOs to help them settle into the game by providing various helpful buffs. However, the inconvenience arose as these buffs were provided in the form of items, requiring CEOs to manually use them from the storage. With the upcoming February update, the "Welcome!" buff will be automatically applied upon logging in, eliminating the need to manually use the item, and the buff will be permanent until CEOs reach company level 60.◆ TASKFORCE Plan – Beginner's Plan Reward AdjustmentsIn the Beginner’s Plan, the rewards obtained upon mission completion will be changed from Employment Contracts to New CEO Coupons. While Employment Contracts are crucial for acquiring employees, this change aims to make early CounterSide play more convenient for new CEOs who may lack SSR employees. Additionally, one of the mission rewards previously given as unit data will now be directly as a corresponding employee.Below is the table detailing the changes in rewards for the Beginner’s Plan. ◆ TASKFORCE Plan – Introducing Limit Fusion PlanTo access the rearmament or the Alternium Reactor system, employees must reach level 110 through Limit Fusion. However, the scarcity of Fusion Core has caused inconvenience for CEOs in using these contents. To alleviate the inconvenience, the new TASKFORCE Plan is designed to provide an additional supply of Fusion Cores.The Limit Fusion Plan becomes available upon completing the Beginner’s Plan, and completing all missions awards a total of 150 Fusion Cores. This new plan will be available to all CEOs, not just new CEOs.◆ Selective Recruitment List OverhaulWhile numerous employees have been released in CounterSide, the list of SSR employees in the selective recruitment, designed to facilitate early gameplay for new CEOs, has been limited to older employees such as Esterosa de Chevalier, Elizabeth Pendragon, and Nanahara Chifuyu, etc. This selective recruitment list will be overhauled to include a more diverse range of employees suitable for various available contents.【 BEFORE 】 【 AFTER 】 [ Squad Tournament]The Arcade mode was recently introduced in January 2024 and received great acclaim as lightweight and enjoyable content. In line with the Arcade mode, the development team has prepared a new content named Squad Tournament, allowing CEOs to engage in automatic battles with a squad that each CEO has assembled, ultimately determining the server's strongest. After freely composing the squad, simply participate in the tournament and a tournament bracket will automatically form. Afterward, the outcomes will be decided at specific times.The squad's deployment order will not change, therefore CEOs aspiring for higher ranks are recommended to strategically compose the competing squad. CEOs who reach the round of 32 at the Squad Tournament will receive special rewards, including a unique title. CEOs who choose not to participate in the Squad Tournament can still earn rewards based on the prediction outcomes. Additionally, those who achieve perfect predictions will be rewarded with a special title as well.[ Consortium Co-op Battle Rework ]The Consortium Co-op Battle is a content where Consortium members cooperate to defeat a series of bosses and claim rewards. To defeat the Co-op Battle Boss, Consortium members need to clear the Arena first to obtain Artifacts before attacking the boss. However, limiting the Arena entry counts to 3 has resulted in cases where CEOs cannot obtain Artifacts up to the desired stage or fail to earn season rewards. To address this, we will give additional Arena entry counts to facilitate the acquisition of the season rewards and Artifacts more smoothly, as well as the boss raid entry count will also be increased to make the season rewards more manageable.Furthermore, Extra Boss will be introduced after Stage 15. This is included for those members who did not have a chance to hit the boss but are already cleared by other members, to make sure everyone gets the season rewards. [ Gauntlet Season Rework & New Honorary Rewards ]In the past, Gauntlet seasons were based on the schedule we set, causing inconvenience as CEOs had to check in-game information to know when each season would end. For 2024, we're making a dynamic change, operating four Gauntlet seasons aligned with each quarter. On the January 3rd update, we planned to modify the abilities of [Carmen] and [Full Moon Nanahara Chinatsu]. However, this modification has been excluded due to concerns raised by CEOs and internal discussions.We apologize for any confusion caused by the hasty update decision and subsequent withdrawal, despite the topic's sensitive nature. After the decision to exclude the update related to healing abilities, the development team has thoroughly reconsidered the direction of future Gauntlet balance adjustments. After the reconsideration, we plan to proceed with a different approach than the one we initially announced.▣ Future Plans on Gauntlet Balance AdjustmentsAs mentioned earlier, we have acknowledged the concerns expressed by CEOs regarding the previous balance adjustments which led to the establishment of a new direction for Gauntlet balance adjustments.The initial balance adjustment plan mentioned in the previous developer's note focused on readjusting employees’ combat survivability stats, such as healing/barrier and cost-to-value ratios of high-value stats. However, this process led to nerfing stats for specific employees like [Carmen] and [Full Moon Nanahara Chinatsu] causing a loss of cost put into developing these two employees.The development team has completely revised the initial Gauntlet balance adjustment plan. The new plan aims to preserve the value of the employees while providing a more enjoyable Gauntlet environment.The initial direction of balancing was aimed at making adjustments to the abilities or stats of employees only in the PVP environment without affecting the existing PVE environment. However, with the recent balance adjustment patch related to the self-healing abilities of employees, we have acknowledged the concerns of our CEOs.In response to this, we plan to establish a new direction for Gauntlet balance, for future balance adjustments do not result in specific employee skills or stats being nerfed. If there is an unavoidable need for a nerf, we will provide corresponding compensation.Through this approach, we aim to respect the affection and cost invested towards the employees while aligning the Gauntlet balance. This announcement informs you about the preemptive measures and adjustments regarding the new direction outlined earlier.As the first step in the new direction, we plan to enhance the existing employees’ attributes or introduce additional skills and stats based on classifications. The first adjustments will target [Stormbringer Jake Walker] and [Awakened Counter employees].Stormbringer Jake Walker specializes in facing mech-type employees with his level 5 Special Skill and Passive Skill effect triggered by basic attacks. However, with the introduction of new employees whose abilities counter the Status Effects, the prominence of Jake Walker against mech-type employees has diminished. To emphasize his role as an employee who specializes in countering mech, Jake’s [Stun] effect on mechs will change to [Binding] effect.In Counter Side, all employees, bosses, and monsters are composed of various types, and the intuitiveness of corresponding types to all these characters is somewhat lacking.In response, the development team aims to clarify the use of employees by classifying them based on specific type categories. As the first step in this classification initiative, the [Awakened Counter Employees] have been categorized with a specialization in countering the Corrupted Object type, allowing them to gain an advantage over those opponents.The Awakened Counter employees will gain additional stats of [Anti-C.O. The development team will identify employees with lower rankings, such as those who were released some time ago or employees with skill structures that do not fit well in PVP environments. These employees will be sequentially adjusted to ensure they will fulfill their roles effectively in the Gauntlet environment.During this adjustment process, if a new skill or attribute that the employee did not originally possess is introduced, then that employee will be granted an Alternium Reactor rather than through stat or skill adjustments. This approach aims to preserve the affection and value invested in developing these employees.▣ Ban Penalty EnhancementEmployees listed in the ban list do not receive the leader bonus and will incur various penalties such as increased deployment cost, decreased DMG, and increased DMG taken.Despite these penalties for employees listed in the ban list, using banned units is considered a valid strategy by the development team if the ban penalty level is low. However, employees with high stats and powerful skills continue to exhibit strong performance in battles despite the high ban penalties.Furthermore, employees with the Fury do not suffer from the penalty of reduced skill haste, but only ASPD. On the other hand, employees without Fury suffer from both reduced skill haste and ASPD, creating an imbalance in the fairness of penalties.In response to this, the development team aims to reinforce ban penalties and introduce new penalty effects. This enhancement will impose greater burdens on employees listed in the ban list, ensuring a more significant challenge for players who choose to use them. Additionally, the goal is to address the fairness of ban penalties with or without Fury. With 2023 coming to a close, we hope you can reap the rewards of your efforts.In this developer's note, we would like to provide a brief overview of the updates scheduled for January 2024.[ Seasonal and Supplement Episodes ]Seasonal and supplement episodes will now follow the new rule before they are added to the Seasonal Record. Seasonal episodes with an event shop will be rerun twice before they are added to the Seasonal Record, and they will no longer have the shop when they are added to the Seasonal Record.Supplement-type seasonal episodes without an event shop will be added to the Seasonal Record after one more rerun.All the clear records will be kept when the episodes are added to the Seasonal Records. [ Gauntlet Survey Results and the Results ]As previously mentioned in the November developer's note, we conducted a large-scale adjustment announcement for a more enjoyable and thrilling Gauntlet environment. We express our sincere gratitude to the many CEOs who actively participated in the Gauntlet survey.We will now guide the future adjustments to the Gauntlet environment based on the results of the survey. The key inquiries related to the Gauntlet environment from this survey are as follows, and we will share the results and the development team's opinions on each item.Experiencing matches that last for 3 minutesUnsatisfactory balancesInconveniences when checking informationEmployee and ship ban experiences I. Experiencing matches that last for 3 minutes The category that the development team judged to be affecting the most to the match time is healing. However, the aggregated results from statistics and surveys indicate that battles lasting for 3 minutes are less frequent than the development team's expectations. The recent Gauntlet healing reduction patch is considered the cause. Therefore, we plan to conduct a more detailed review of the healing amount in the Gauntlet environment. Initially, we will remove the self-healing ability of the employees who can heal themselves and the ally to consistently reduce the average playtime in the Gauntlet. II. Unsatisfactory Balances Among the unsatisfactory balance responses, the four issues that occupied the highest average ratio are as follows: 1) When facing an employee without weaknesses (an employee without a clear counter) 2) When facing an employee with exceptional durability relative to its cost 3) When, despite addressing weaknesses, dealing with them is not clear-cut. 4) When facing an employee with exceptional abilities relative to its costBased on the survey results, the development team is currently analyzing the characteristics of around 200 employees corresponding to the four issues with the highest ratios. First, the team is in the process of defining criteria for employees with no weaknesses and unclear countermeasures.After completing the analysis of employee characteristics related to these major complaints, the team plans to proceed with balance adjustments for each analyzed characteristic. Detailed information on this matter will be provided separately.III. Inconveniences when checking information Many CEOs expressed difficulty in accessing information about the employees' specifications. To address this concern, the development team is planning the following improvements for standardized descriptions and providing missing informationDistance Display Improvement: Standardizing the notation and providing a method for measuring distances.Movement Speed: Including movement speed information in the employee details.Line of Sight: Displaying the field of vision information in the employee details.Range: Indicating the effective range in the skill descriptions.The number of attacks: Specify the number of attacks in the skill descriptions.Implementing these improvements requires unavoidable system development, and it is expected to take some time. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by not being able to provide these pieces of information promptly. Once the system development is complete, we will systematically organize and provide more detailed information about employee specifications in the game.IV. Employee and ship ban experiences a. Frequency of using banned employees b. Frequency of using banned ships Based on the survey results, we observed that CEOs tend to use ban ships more frequently than banned employees in the Gauntlet mode. Therefore, considering that the Gauntlet ban penalty for ships does not significantly impact the actual performance of the ships, the development team is discussing the enhancement of the Gauntlet ban penalty for ships. One thing we are discussing is adjusting ships that summon units to the field.As a preliminary step towards these Gauntlet environment adjustments to reduce the match time, there are plans to adjust the employees who can both heal themselves and their allies simultaneously. Therefore, during the January balance patch, Full Moon Nanahara Chinatsu and Carmen will no longer be able to self-heal in the gauntlet environment. Beyond these two employees, adjustments will be sequentially made to employees who can both heal themselves and their allies simultaneously in the Gauntlet environment as well.The development team is also preparing for various other adjustments to the Gauntlet environment, and these changes will be implemented sequentially. [ NEW ORIGIN 1st Anniversary Broadcast ]To commemorate the upcoming 1st anniversary of CounterSide’s NEW ORIGIN in February 2024, a special broadcast is being prepared to reflect on 2023, providing insights into the direction of 2024, and sharing various events and content for a meaningful celebration. The plot then revolves around the Academy Student Council members preparing for the Christmas event.Naielle and Mika★Star will be involved in both volunteer activities and events, leading to an entertaining and dynamic storyline.Please look forward to the upcoming Christmas seasonal episode![ 3rd Prestige Service ] The second Prestige Service, which has been ongoing since August, will conclude on December 19th at 22:00 (UTC-5). As a primary measure, a patch was implemented by reducing the healing amount based on the number of bans received.However, with the extended service period, the increasing variety of units with diverse skill mechanics has resulted in the gauntlet's combat duration not being shortened as intended by the development team.In light of this, the development team is currently reviewing adjustments to the survival capabilities of units within the gauntlet environment only to provide a swift and engaging gauntlet experience.The aspects under consideration for adjustment are outlined below, and please note that the proposed changes have not been finalized. Be aware that the information provided is subject to change.■ Healing & Barrier AdjustmentsBecause units that can heal others show that they survive longer than the expected duration, self-healing ability will be removed.Healing & barriers provided in proportion to health will be adjusted based on the unit's stats or proportionate to lost health.■ Reassessment of Unit Abilities and Stats with High-Value Relative to CostIt has been determined that a reassessment is necessary for certain unit abilities and stats that possess high value relative to their deployment cost.As a result, the values for the following unit abilities and stats will be reevaluated based on the deployment cost used, or the effectiveness of certain unit abilities will be reduced accordingly.▣ Unit AbilitiesImmunity to DMG: Units with this ability may get a different ability or have the ability’s effect reduced based on the unit cost.DMG Taken Limit: Units with this ability may get a different ability or have the ability’s effect reduced based on the unit cost.Retreat: The total retreat count will be differentially applied based on the unit cost for units with retreat mechanics.Perfect EVA: Units with this ability may get a different ability or have the ability’s effect reduced based on the unit cost.▣ StatsStatus Effect RES: The value of Status Effect RES, which has become more valuable due to an increase in debuff types will be differentially applied based on the unit cost.DMG RDC: Aside from passives or equipment, DMG RDC will be reassessed by differentiating the amount of DMG RDC received based on the unit costs.Forward Deployment Survivability Stat: Survival stats for high-valued forward deployment units that can survive even after disrupting the opponent’s battle formation will be adjusted accordingly based on the unit cost.Summons: Summons will have their stats reevaluated based on their opportunity costs.The adjustments mentioned will impact the majority of units, and as mentioned earlier, the adjustments are planned to be implemented exclusively within the gauntlet environment.Additionally, adjustments that could significantly impact the PvE environment due to changes in units' Passive Skill and similar factors will be excluded, hence the characteristics for each unit in PvE will be maintained and preserved.Anticipating significant changes in the gauntlet environment due to these adjustments, we aim to listen to the opinions of our CEOs regarding unit survivability in the gauntlet through a survey.Detailed information about the survey will be provided in a separate announcement, so please check the announcement and share your opinions.Beyond these survivability adjustments, the development team will continue to strive to provide CEOs with an even more enjoyable gauntlet experience.[ World Map Renewal ]Improvements for World Map branches and dispatch missions are underway.First, a feature to collect all rewards at once from World Map dispatch missions will be added.If there are two or more collectible dispatch mission rewards, the system will allow CEOs to receive the rewards all at once.Furthermore, when World Map events (Dive, Raid) occur, the WARNING screen will be displayed only once. The messages displayed separately for Raid and Dive events will be consolidated and shown as [Disturbance Occurred]. In addition, the camera focusing effects during Dive and Raid appearances will be removed.Second, when each branch reaches level 10, the success rates for S-rank and A-rank dispatch missions will no longer decrease.Third, to simplify the branch facilities, the CSE Passive Radar will be removed.The CSE Passive Radar facility was designed to increase the chance of finding high-grade Disturbance; however, with the recent update, these high-level Disturbances no longer occur.Consequently, to streamline the intricate branch facilities in a more straightforward manner, the CSE Passive Raid facility, which increases the chance of finding high-grade Disturbance, will be removed.With the removal patch for the CSE Passive Raid facility, the currently installed CSE Passive Radar facilities in the branch will be eliminated. The prerequisites associated with this facility will be removed, and the Facility Points and Credits spent on installation will be refunded.[ Quality of Life Improvement on Co-op Battle Rewards ]To alleviate the stress of selecting each reward for [Kill Points Reward] and [Total Participations Reward], a feature to collectively receive all the rewards will be updated.
